Walmart Is Opening More Online Shopping Distribution Centers

The growing demand in online shopping is leading Walmart to expand and open as many distribution center as possible.

Walmart Stores Incorporation is opening more distributions centers as the demand for online shopping is on the rise and growing every day. The giant retailer has to meet the demands of the consumers, and to do that, it needs more distribution center throughout the United States. Apart from US, the company has even opened a center that occupies land of almost 1.2 million square feet in Chino.
The grocery chain started operating in Kimball and Euclid’s northwest avenues with the hope of increasing efficiency and save extra costs. Walmart Wholesale has managed to hire 300 workers in the Chino distribution center already, which indicates the company is working rapidly. A spokesperson for the retailer even informed that the company is shipping millions of goods and products in the fulfillment center, which will be available for customers at the facility.
Walmart Stores Inc. strategy for this year might include expanding its e-commerce business due to the growing demand and opening small distribution centers around the US. More than 80 store locations are all set to conduct direct shipping services from inside of the stores; these 4,500 stores can be used as in-store pickups after orders have been placed online. The larger distribution centers have already been opened in five states including Georgia, California, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Texas, not just this but another center is about to open in Florida.
Walmart Stores logistic engineer of e-commerce, Phil Herr said that the company has made huge investments in the centers and is making efforts to cut down labor costs and time of the order that it takes for the deliveries to be carried out. The retailer’s aim is to be as close to the customer as possible in order for the delivery to be made on time and make its faster, easy and efficient. With this aim, the retail chain is hoping to be just 5 miles away from 80% of the population of the US and make deliveries as fast as possible at ease.
The fulfillment center in Chino is actually a part of another industrial center that was leased by Majestic Realty with plans of constructing two more buildings in the area. The officials of the city, on the other hand, are hoping to benefit from the employment these centers are going to bring in the areas and help raise the economy. Walmart is not the only company that is expanding its e-commerce business, several others are doing the same, which aids in bringing more and more job and raise the employment rate of the area. Job opportunities are getting better due to these centers, which make both parties fairly happy – the company, the locals and the officials.
